Memorandum
To: Alumni Relations Offices,
On August 31, 2009, the Executive Committee of the University of Maryland Alumni Association-International, Inc. (AA-I) sent a letter to all alumni offices informing them of their intent to suspend the grant program. The committee is reviewing the process and looking to make it better. In the interim, the Executive Committee remains dedicated to the need for funding USM alumni endeavors. Therefore for the 2010 cycle, we are once again awarding equal funds to the appropriate offices that oversee alumni programs on each respective campus. It will be left to the discretion of each campus entity to determine how this money will be distributed or the programs it should be applied.
At a meeting held on Tuesday, November 15, 2010, the Executive Committee voted to provide each campus with $4,000.00. A check will be sent shortly under separate cover.
AA-I requires a grant report that states how the funds were used and positive outcomes by June 30, 2012. A form that more fully describes the necessary elements of the grant report will be included with the check and can also be found on the AA-I website.
In addition, in accordance with the Grant Program’s Criteria and Guidelines, any alumni association with outstanding grant reports are ineligible to receive the current year award. If your organization has an outstanding report due you will be notified under separate cover.
AA-I will inform all USM alumni organizations of the changes to the grant program for the 2011 cycle. Please feel free to contact me or your AA-I campus representative (see Executive Committee) if you have any questions.
